Auto-Industrial Group Brings Another Chinese Brand to Portugal

Auto-Industrial group has signed an agreement to be the exclusive importer of the Chinese brand Forthing into Portugal.

Forthing belongs to the Chinese group Dongfeng, one of the four giants of the Chinese car industry, and has been investing in electric or electrified models in recent years.

The import will be handled by Solmotor, Lda, a company in the Auto-Industrial group, established in 1920.

“Auto-Industrial group has consolidated its position as one of the main players in the automotive sector in Portugal and with this new partnership we intend to drive sustainable growth for decades to come,” said Alfredo Leite Santos, a member of the board of directors of the Coimbra-based group, which closed last year with a turnover of more than 300 million euros.

“Portugal is a country with a vast cultural heritage and an innovative attitude towards technology and sustainability. We see great potential and are excited to contribute to the growth and development of the automotive industry in Portugal,” said Patrick Wang, representative of the Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor group.

The agreement comes at a time when Brussels has imposed tariffs on imports of Chinese electric vehicles.
