Coffee sales to China from Brazil grew 132.48 percent year-on-year in the first nine months this year, the Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafe) reported.
Brazil exported 669,292 bags of 60 kg of coffee to China, compared to 287,889 a year ago, according to the Cecafe report.
“Among Brazil’s top 10 trading partners up through September 2023, China continues to be a positive standout,” it said.
According to official Cecafe data, over the same period, Brazil’s coffee shipments fell by 9.1 percent from the previous year.
Brazil produces about a third of the world’s coffee, making the country by far the world’s largest producer.
Coffee plantations, covering some 27,000 km2 (10,000 sq mi), are mainly located in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Paraná where the environment and climate provide ideal growing conditions.
