Huawei, ETSI, Altice Portugal and China BDA launch initiative toward F5G
Huawei, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), Altice Portugal and China Broadband Development Alliance jointly launched the fifth-generation fixed network (F5G) industry initiative on Tuesday, a move an expert said will isolate US companies.

Portugal´s EuroAtlantic Airline Ensures Supply to Angola of Chinese Medical Gear
Transport of medical equipment from Wenzhou and Changsha, China, to Angola is being ensured by EuroAtlantic airways (EAA) from Portugal, at the service of Angola´s Bestfly. Irregularities in a first flight between China and Angola operated by Ethiopian Airlines led the Government to look for alternatives in supplies during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Africa´s Debt Load Forces Negotiations, With China at the Center
China is Africa’s largest bilateral creditor, having given these countries estimated loans worth $152 billion between 2000 and 2018. With the economic crisis in countries like Angola or Mozambique generating debt repayment difficulties, negotiations are underway, with the engagement of China and private lenders.

Portugal´s EDP pays China Three Gorges EUR 150 million in dividends
EDP, Portugal´s larget utility, is paying since Thursday EUR 695 million in dividends to its shareholders. A a fifth of the total, around EUR 150 million, will go to China Three Gorges (CTG), the largest shareholder, according to EDP.

Chinese financial group KWG drops out of deal to buy Angola´s BNI european branch
Chinese financial group KWG dropped out of a deal to buy the majority of the capital of Portugal-based BNI Europa, from Angolan bank BNI, led by banker Mário Palhares. According to BNI, KWG justified its decision with the context of uncertainty, caused by the covid-19 pandemic.

Portuguese Port of Sines delays new EUR 600 million terminal project for 1 year
The bid for the construction of the new Vasco da Gama terminal at Portugal´s Port of Sines has been delayed until April 2021, according to the administration. In the meantime, Sines is moving ahead with the expansion of the existing terminal, operated by PSA Singapore, and wants to created an agro-industry hub for agricultural companies from Brazil.

The Portuguese-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC) has loudly rejected a new Portugal-China trade association focused on small and medium-size enterprises (CCPC-PME). In a statement, CCILC calls the new association "untransparent".

Presidents of China and Portugal Vow to Deepen Cooperation After Covid-19
President Xi Jinping said Thursday, during a conversation with his Portuguese counterpart that he expects that after the COVID-19 pandemic ends, the two sides will deepen cooperation, promote the joint construction of the Belt and Road (B&R),and push for greater development of the China-Portugal comprehensive strategic partnership.
