Chinese group CITIC Dicastal is preparing the construction of an automotive components factory in Águeda, northern Portugal, in a EUR 180 million investment.
According to the Portuguese press, the new facility built by the Chinese group, one of the 50 largest manufacturers of automotive components in the world, will create between 500 and 600 jobs in the region.
The Municipal Assembly of Águeda has already approved the sale of the municipal land and the memorandum of understanding with the Chinese company.

The municipality of the Aveiro district will sell the land for 10 euros per square meter, a total of EUR 1.5 million. Quoted by Jornal de Negócios, the mayor of Águeda, Jorge Almeida, said that CITIC´s project in the local Business Park, is “great news”.
In the neighboring Galicia region, in Spain, Citic´s decision is lamented as yet “another loss” of an investment in the car sector for Portugal, according to the newspaper Faro de Vigo.
