Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has begun construction of a new oil tanker for Angola´s national energy company Sonangol, to be delivered in March 2023.
With a capacity of one million oil barrels, the tanker is under construction since July 15 in South Korea, according to a statement by Sonangol.
It is one of two oil tankers that will reinforce the Suezmax fleet of the Angolan company, under the supervision of the Trading & Shipping Business Unit (UNTS).

The vessel is being built with the technical specifications established by the international shipping market and environmental standards for containing pollution in maritime transport, according to the same source.
The chairman of UNTS´ executive committee, Luís Manuel, said that the construction of the oil tanker “will bring significant benefits to Angola”, allowing Sonangol to “keep its activity in the shipping segment up to date”.
