JAP Brings Foton’s Chinese Electric Cars to Portugal

Portuguese group JAP has entered into an exclusive partnership with Foton Motor Group, assuming the position of official importer of the Asian manufacturer for Portugal.

JAP group will be responsible for importing, distributing and servicing Foton’s innovative light commercial vehicles, which will hit the domestic market in 2024.

This agreement not only strengthens the electric mobility infrastructure in Portugal, but also aligns with the country’s goals of reducing emissions and an efficient energy transition.

“This partnership is an important milestone in our sustainability strategy and reaffirms our commitment to innovation and leadership in the electric mobility segment,” said Jan Oehmicke, director of the JAP group.

Wu ZongTian, vice-president of Foton International, pointed out that “the partnership with the JAP group represents another important step in Foton’s implementation strategy in Europe”.

“We are confident that, in the near future, we will be able to conquer the leadership of the electric commercial vehicle market in Portugal and contribute to the global policy of carbon neutrality,” concludes Wu ZongTian.

The century-old JAP group, which employs more than 3,400 people, represents around ten and a half brands in the automotive sector, including several market leaders such as Carby, Matrizauto and Sixt Rent-a-Car.
