Sinopec, CNOOC, CNPC and Petro China International have presented bids in Mozambique´s new tender for oil and gas production areas.
According to the Mozambican government, a total of 13 companies submitted proposals in the sixth hydrocarbon research and production tender, including Exxon Mobil, Rosneft and Totalenergies.
Other bidders are ENI, Novatec, Qatar Petroleum, Sasol, ONGC Videsh, Irish Discovery Exploration and Aiteo, from Nigeria.

In addition to a proposal from the parent company, Totalenergies submitted a second proposal through one of its corporate arms, Totalenergies EP New Venture.
The process covers five areas in the Rovuma basin, seven in Angoche, two in the Zambezi Delta and two in the Save, totaling more than 92,000 square kilometres.
One of the regions, the Rovuma basin, under the ocean floor in the open sea off the coast of Cabo Delgado (north of the country), already has areas allocated. Some of the largest gas reserves in the world were discovered there and will begin to be explored this year.
Chinese Financing Could Replace Western One for Mozambique LNG Projects
The National Petroleum Institute (INP) will evaluate bids and the list of companies admitted will be published on March 31, 2022.
The sixth tender for the concession of areas for research and production of hydrocarbons was launched on November 25, 2021 and ends on November 30, with the announcement of the results.
Mozambique also has areas allocated under the fifth tender, whose prospecting is awaiting start.
